Cristian has always looked at Metodo Classico sparkling wines as the most rewarding challenge of his work. When he started to run our winery in 2002, he knew he was in the right place for winning that challenge. In fact, for more than 100 years, the hills of the Versa Valley have given Pinot Noir grapes with the right acidity and complexity for Metodo Classico sparkling wines.
The growing awareness of the quality of our Pinot Noir and the constant striving for improvement drove Cristian to refine our sparkling wines with the aim of bringing you the truest expression of the Montecalvo terroir.
Our Metodo Classico are produced with grapes grown in five vineyards north and north-west oriented, located at different altitudes (from 200 to 540 m AMSL) with soils varying from clay to limestone as altitude increases. We hand-harvest the grapes of each vineyard in small crates, vinify them separately, and finally blend them together trying to reach a perfectly balanced cuvée.
